Last week, we delivered the first food and hygiene boxes to vulnerable families in the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine. At the start of the quarantine, more than 3,000 children were sent home from orphanages to this area alone, and after careful monitoring, social workers identified 800 families as being in dire need of food and hygiene supplies.
Food insecurity is one of the main reasons parents place their children into institutional care. Our project hopes to address this issue by providing immediate relief to these families while the government works on implementing permanent solutions to keep these children at home beyond the quarantine period.
A special thank you to Meest for procuring the contents of the kits and for delivering them right to the doors of the families!
